4 Lafayette restaurants announce closures

Four Lafayette restaurants have announced their decision to close.

Mellow Mushroom will be closing its doors for good. No reason for the closure was given, however an employee did confirm the restaurant will officially close Sunday at 10:30 p.m. The pizza restaurant opened in 2014.

Guidry’s Reef in Lafayette has closed its doors for good. According to the restaurant’s voice mail message, the restaurant is closed due to family health problems and thanked the many customers and friends they made over the years. The restaurant opened in 1978 by Charles and Dennis Guidry.

Country Cuisine in Lafayette will soon be closing. According to an employee at the restaurant, the closing date will soon be announced and the reason for the closure is financial. The restaurant has been opened for more than 30 years.

Hurricane Grill and Wings on Ambassador Caffery Pkwy is no longer open and the Lafayette location on their website has been removed.

Mobile Storage Table

MATERIALS
Sturdy-lidded basket

Four 1-by-2s

Latex satin-finish paint

Six 1 1/4-inch wood screws

Power screwdriver

Four casters and screws

STEPS
1.  Paint the basket and lid.

2.  Position two 1-by-2s, cut 2 inches shorter than basket’s length, inside basket, 1 inch from each side. Align with second pair — cut the same length, mitered at a 45-degree angle, and painted — placed on the underside. From inside basket, join three layers with wood screws.

3.  Screw casters to supports on bottom of basket. If you plan to put heavy books or plants on top of the lid, it’s a good idea to insert a strong plastic- or wooden-lidded box inside the basket, flush with the rim, for additional support.

Half Table Console

INTRODUCTION
Unless you want to do a lot of sawing, the likely candidate for this project will have an extending mechanism to accommodate a leaf. (Hint: Any damage or wear — a missing corner block, a major crack — drastically reduces table prices at flea markets.)

STEPS

  1. Simply unscrew the extension mechanism from the bottom of the table, sand the table, then prime and paint it.
  2. Nail or screw a 2-by-2-inch piece of wood to the wall at the height of the tabletop, so that the edge of the table rests on the wood support.
  3. For extra stability, screw through the top of the table to the wood support; fill the holes with wood filler, and paint over them.
  4. At last, you’ll have a place for your keys.

YouTube TV

YouTube TV, the video platform’s live television service, is currently available in a limited group of U.S. cities: New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Philadelphia.

The subscription, which runs $35 per month, will give subscribers access to more than 50 television programs, including ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and ESPN, and AMC networks, including AMC, BBC America, IFC and Sundance TV, will be joining the network soon.

In addition to the networks already listed, Showtime and Soccer Plus are currently available for an additional charge.

And the $35 monthly fee offers more than just the live television programming. YouTube TV will also give members access to its slate of YouTube Red originals and comes with unlimited cloud DVR that will store shows for up to nine months, allowing you to watch your shows on a phone, tablet or computer and will stream to a television using a Google Chromecast.

Plus, one membership can have up to six accounts, with three streams allowed at a time.

“This is such a new marketplace,” YouTube VP content partnerships Kelly Merryman tells Billboard. “Our goal from the beginning was to really listen to our users and understand from them what they loved about TV and what they want changed. What we recognized is that it was really distribution that was a struggle for them. They wanted the experience that they were used to from YouTube, Spotify and Netflix so that they could watch programming anywhere they wanted, whenever they wanted, wherever they wanted, on any device.”

YouTube is currently offering a free trial for 30 days, which you can check out here, and the provider is giving new members a Google Chromecast after they make their first month’s payment. Plus, in case you were wondering: YouTube TV will become available in more markets. Sign up here for more information on when it will become available in a city near you!
